Bitter Sweetheart No. 04

Soft color. Hard language.

This work nods to the classic conversation candy heart, but shifts the tone entirely. The pastel palette feels nostalgic. The language does not.

Nine hand cast resin hearts are mounted on a layered white canvas. The lettering is intentionally imperfect and subtly off centered, echoing the irregular placement found on traditional candy hearts. That imbalance is deliberate. It preserves the reference while disrupting the sweetness.

Each piece is created upon acquisition. The hearts are individually cast, tinted, and finished by hand, then composed directly on the canvas. Because of this process, no two works are identical. Slight shifts in placement, tone, and surface ensure that every piece stands as its own original.

The canvas itself is upcycled and painted over previous artwork, building quiet texture and depth into the surface. What once existed beneath becomes part of the structure. Nothing is erased. It is transformed.

This work contains explicit language. The profanity is intentional and conceptual. It contrasts softness with confrontation, color with bite.

Bitter Sweetheart exists in that tension. Familiar form. Unfiltered voice.
